Basic Policy for Human Capital Management

We have established the Basic Policy for Human Capital Management which consists of the following two components. Based on our company philosophy, we place this policy the top level guidelines in our efforts of human capital management.

1. Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

We shall develop the treatment, recruitment and environment so that employees with diverse abilities and personalities can exercise flexible thinking and action, and shall work to increase corporate value through recruitment and development of human resources.

2. Health and Productivity Management

We shall put employee health as top priority and provide safe workplace and good working environment.

2. Career path

Iwaki gives everyone the opportunity once every year to make a request for a specific career path. Some people may want to become an engineer specializing in a particular product. Others may want to shift from sales operations in Japan to overseas sales. Iwaki offers many career paths in order to give people the opportunity to upgrade their skills and advance in accordance with the path they have chosen.

3. Support for self-learning

Iwaki encourages people to take actions on their own initiative and take on challenges of all kinds. To assist people advance through self-study, there are assistance programs (financial support) for earning professional qualifications, assistance for learning English, and other forms of assistance.

Workplace Health and Safety

Iwaki is dedicated to providing pleasant workplace environments that also incorporate measures for the safety and good health of employees.

1. Health and safety

To ensure that employees can do their jobs in a safe environment, Iwaki performs the following activities on a regular basis to identify potential risks at factories and offices and make improvements.

2. The 6S campaign

The 5S campaign is the basis for all manufacturing activities at Iwaki. These five components, which all begin with “s” in Japanese, are orderliness, neatness, cleaning, hygiene and good manners. This has been expanded to the 6S campaign by adding kindness, which means exercising care not to cause problems for subsequent production processes and providing help with kindness to people having difficulties.
※The six “s” characteristics are orderliness, neatness, cleaning, hygiene, good manners and kindness.

1. Orderliness

Place no items in workplaces other than what is required.

2. Neatness

Keep items that are required in readily visible and accessible locations.

3. Cleaning

Keep workplaces free of trash and dirty areas.

4. Hygiene

Maintain good hygiene by rigorously performing actions for orderliness, neatness and cleanliness.

5. Good manners

Make it a habit to perform tasks properly by always taking prescribed actions in the prescribed ways.

6. Kindness

Perform tasks thoroughly and properly to prevent problems in subsequent processes and assist people in need of help with kindness.

3. Stress checks

Stress tests conducted by an external organization are used to monitor the mental health of employees periodically.
Individuals experiencing significant stress can see a physician and there are numerous programs to improve the mental health of employees.
