Basic Policy for Compliance

Iwaki is dedicated to fulfilling its responsibilities to society and conducting sound business operations that comply with laws and regulations. The Basic Policy for Compliance defines specific measures concerning ethics and compliance.

1. Compliance with laws and regulations and social guidelines

Iwaki conducts business operations properly by complying with laws and regulations, the Articles of Incorporation, internal rules and other guidelines and by strictly observing social guidelines for behavior and standards for corporate ethics.

Iwaki has numerous measures for the appropriate protection, management and use of its intellectual property rights. There are also measures to respect the intellectual property rights of others and prevent any infringement of these rights.

Iwaki respects internationally recognized human rights and is dedicated to preventing discrimination and human rights violations of any kind.

6. Environmental measures

Iwaki is aware of the effects of business operations on the environment and has many programs for reducing its environmental impact.

7. Prohibition of bribery of government officials and others

Iwaki never seeks additional benefits from government employees by using bribes or other methods. In addition, Iwaki personnel are forbidden from providing benefits, such as entertainment or gifts, to government employees in Japan and other countries. Iwaki personnel will firmly reject any request from a government employee in Japan or other countries for some type of benefit.

8. Prohibition of bribery of individuals other than government employees

Iwaki never seeks additional benefits by using a bribe or other improper method. Entertainment, gifts and other activities involving transactions with individuals other than government employees are allowed within an appropriate range in compliance with local laws and in accordance with generally accepted guidelines.

9. Prohibition of receipt of entertainment and gifts

Iwaki personnel are forbidden from requesting or accepting entertainment, gifts and other benefits from customers that exceed generally accepted guidelines for courtesies. In addition, improper business activities that benefit an employee’s family, other relatives, friends or others are forbidden and requests or the acceptance of entertainment, gifts or other items for this purpose are prohibited.

To contribute to peace and security in the world, Iwaki manages trade activities with respect to security export control in order to comply with all applicable laws, regulations and other restrictions.

12. Activities for the appropriate disclosure of information

Iwaki discloses information quickly and in a timely manner based on the policy of ensuring transparency and fairness as prescribed in the Financial Instruments and Exchange Act and other laws and regulations and in the timely disclosure rules of the Tokyo Stock Exchange. In addition, Iwaki provides as much as possible information that is not required by laws and the timely disclosure rules but is believed by Iwaki to be needed to increase the public’s understanding of company.
